A Moment of Calm, Framed in Wood

Crafted from ash wood and finished with natural ottchil lacquer, this elegant tray brings a quiet sense of beauty to everyday rituals. Its curved silhouette and visible grain offer a warm, organic presence that enhances both presentation and mood.

Perfect for serving tea, desserts, or even a few slices of kimbap, this piece turns a simple pause into a serene moment.

Every tray is finished by hand using traditional Korean lacquer techniques, ensuring durability and a richness that grows deeper with time.

About the Master

Born in Wonju in 1962, Master Donho Lee has dedicated nearly his entire life to the art of Korean lacquer. He began his apprenticeship in 1977 at the age of 15 under Master Seonggu Lee, and went on to train with some of Korea’s most respected lacquer artisans, including Seoul Intangible Cultural Heritage holder Jung-hyun Shin and Master Hanchang Choi.

In 1988, he returned to his hometown and established Daejeong Studio, which he continues to operate today in Gangwon Province. In 2005, he was recognized as Gangwon Province’s Intangible Cultural Heritage No.17 in saeng-chil (raw lacquer) craft.

Throughout his career, Master Lee has worked with unwavering dedication—restoring sacred Buddhist statues, creating temple furnishings, and presenting his work at major exhibitions such as the Korean Lacquer Craft Exhibition and the Bucheon World Intangible Heritage Expo.

His practice reflects a deep respect for tradition and a refined mastery that brings the timeless beauty of Korean lacquer into the present.
